I've been using heating pads all these years like a fool. They even have a 12v one... Linky. Google finds more 12v ones elsewhere. 20 watt example. Not cheap, but good to know!
Are you heating metal enclosures with those bolt on units?
Pads work well on plastic because plastic is a very poor conductor. The warmth of the pad is spread out over a larger surface area to better couple heat into the contents.
Of course if you want a little heat on your metal hot water tank, or oil pan or trans pan, those might work?
