Guys, a friend of ours died recently and has a Yahama 2000 generator that is very lightly used and about four years old. Went over yesterday and it started with about three pulls after sitting for two years. It ran great but the widow wants to sell it and was wondering what kind of price would be appropriate. Any help would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't know, but starting with 3 pulls after that long time indicates to me that it's had gas sitting in it all this time. That could indicate a carburetor cleaning would be likely.

There are 3 used Yamaha 2000 variant on ebay right now. The price is about $600.Make sure it runs for at least 30 minutes under load. Hook it up to a 1500 watt space heater and let it run. Make sure it makes power at all of its outlets. Plug a Kill-a-Watt meter into them and verify you are getting proper voltage and 60Hz.

I think someone should point out that there are blue variants of generators out there that have a 79cc Chinese Yamaha motor in them but are not actual Yamaha Brand Generators...Why Yamaha does this is truly kinda baffling to me...

FWIW, not a direct comparison maybe but the Honda 2000 had a 98cc motor, and the new 2200 has 125cc...
