I guess I could have the Noctua fan push air into the case, but I don't yet have a 60MM fan grill to protect the impeller. If failure is due to heat then I'll have a better dissipation method than how it came out of the factory. I don't care if the fan looks like a wart growing out of it.
I kept the finned aluminum casing from a failed inverter. I might cut that up and attach it to the spot on the Clone's case which got the warmest when making 30+ amps
I doubt I'll be maxing this thing out too often. I'll mostly use it as a overnight floater, but my AGM battery really seems to wake up when recharged at a higher rate. Alternator amps in the 50 range and 25 schumacher amps really seemed to make it crank the engine faster, compared to the solar relatively low and slow at 13 amp peak.
There are threaded holes on the case so that one can mount a bracket to it. Not sure of the screw sizes.
It is taking a lot of will power to not rip the thing open right now.
No pics of the internals tonight though, they will come later.
The voltage barely flickers when I flick on my 16.7 amp air compressor and shut it off. It seems to respond instantly to load, anything i turn on or shut off is read my my gtpower meter instantly and the voltage barely reacts to changing loads. As I type, it is producing 5.27 amps and is completely cool to the touch. It no longer smells either.
Thanks Mex!, for bringing these power supplies to our attention. I am so glad I never got a converter or some other automatic Undercharging source, and spent only a fraction of their prices to get what I wanted.
Now for that finger pot....
How important do you think matching the ohm range of the original is? Like will a wider range allow more voltage swing?. If this thing could do 16 volts I'd have to film my screwy 31 dancing a Jig
