Thanks for the contributions Westend. I'm gonna order some thermal grease for after I get my new finger multi turn pot soldered in. Gonna put it between that aluminum block and the case, and between case and my future finned heatsink from my old inverter.
So by my 0.872 k ohm reading I should get a 1K pot?
How do I determine which 2 contacts on the New multi turn pot get attached to ground, and which goes the other resistor more distant on the circuit board?
Since it is a single sided circuit board, I am pretty sure I can wick out the old solder and remove the trim pot. but when looking at the macro side pic i envision just cutting out the old pot and attaching the wires right to the legs. Then I remember how small it is.
I found 0.872 kohm was the reading when the pot was turned all the way down to minimum voltage and the 0.000 kohm reading when the voltage pot was dialed all the way upto max voltage.
I think this pot would be a nice thickness to mount to the side of the unit.
