Was thinking about slipping in an IR 1405 MOSFET* since I have a few laying around and a TO220 SilPad 800. I purchased a hundred online for six dollars. Looks as though OEM used ceramic adhesive and that stuff is minimal in my book.

As far as the sandwich goes, interfacing with Arctic Silver would or should make a world of difference. It's silly having that aluminum case sitting there doing nothing.
