A point to keep in mind is that this is a 30 amp rated power supply. They are so inexpensive I purchased a pair. Four of them cost less than a tank of gasoline for a pickup truck. Take a look at a 60 amp rated standard charger and compare size to the CHEAPOWATT. Compare it to the size of TWENTY CHEAPOWATTS. Shoot the price is around the same.
Big deal. These power supplies ANY OF THEM INCLUDING THE MEANWELL, cannot be connected in parallel except through an isolation rectifier. Big deal. 300 amp rated shottkey rectifiers are a dime a dozen on eBay. Well, not quite -that- cheap but a pair of them will handle 4 CHEAPOWATTS a 120 amp charging proposition.
Maybe the haze surrounding my recommendation to achieve instant absorbsion voltage charge limit will become a little clearer now. A group 31 should take a second CHEAPOWATT to do this. Close to 50 amps total.
I'm setting one of my CHEAPOWATT units to 14.4 volts for my new AGM. The other is going to be set to perhaps 13.8, maybe fourteen volts.
If I were going to do a permanent mount, I would space them off the roof of a compartment. Remembering, that the pots have been replaced with a remote pot for a reason, I don't want to have to look at a small rectangle of aluminum. They are fragile anyway.
For 24 dollars they have limitations. In overload capacity. Big deal. When a 10 dollar mule from a blacksmith can't pull a plow buy a second. Beats a hundred dollar mule hands down. Remember the thirty dollar 18 amp Harbor Fright uncontrolled charger that weighed a ton? You gotta keep this stuff in perspective.
If you're concerned about connecting through a Shottkey pair, relax. I'll guide you through it if you wish. This is E-A-S-Y stuff. A joke compared to what you've already done. Only a SINGLE solitary one of the CHEAPOWATTS needs a remote pot.
But I don't need a garden of these things growing in the cargo bay. To the roof of the bay they get stuck.
You may have been hearing the PWM circuit switching in and out to self protect. These critters are supposed to be thermally and current protected.
Grab your VISA card. A second CHEAPOWATT will cure-all, I guarantee it. And you'll have a 60 amp charger. Need 300 amps? That can be arranged.
Smile! You did good. Best buy you ever made.
