Amusing. Look at the one pic he posts. Looks as if it is the same circuit board.

92 cents! Those ba$tards!!!!
I'd enjoy the opportunity to fix/ upgrade this thing.
It is possible to upgrade this to a higher rated part?, like a 150 watt version.
I was so happy with myself changing it to the 10 turn pot. I wish I could go back in time and play with it more before pretending the buzzing did not annoy me.
I knew full well it was a risk to let it buzz away, but I had to know if it could just set it to a desired end voltage, and let it go, so that a timer could work and take some of the manual factor out of it.
Ninerbikes reported his Megawatt, or is it a Meanwell PSU seemed to limit current so it won't hurt itself, or perhaps his battery was not very discharged. Both Mena and Niner report no buzzing type noise.
This cheapowatt allowed itself to produce 25%+ more than its rating and release the magic blue smoke.

Anyway I'd love to get some burlier components installed, unless they cost as much as a new cheapowatt, well perhaps even then. I spent an hour filing those dang heat sinks flat and wetsanding them to baby bottom status. Add in the time to modify the fan, add the trim pot, well I could have made enough money in those hours to buy 2 megawatts.
My goal would be a charger that I can set it to a maximum Absvoltage when unloaded, then connect it to the battery, crank a timer for 2 hours or so, and not stress. I could/can not leave my 'automatic' Schumacher unattended in bulk, but it can and will sometimes attempt to boil a battery, but will not smoke itself.
I dont want to have to keep the voltage pot low initially and keep raising it as I had to do on my test last night. My Northstar AGM loved the 36 amp bulk rate. It is still at 13.14V having seen no loads since.
I'll order a Megawatt if I have to, but I'd love to get this working again, and If I can get burlier components to replace what failed, I will do so.
This stuff interests me, and I'll continue to be the guinea pig, I just need some assistance to continue, as I am out of my depth.
