Guys, replacing a part or two with a "better" part will not up the specifications very much, if at all.

Plus the active devices need to be matched fairly well around the control loop or instability can occur.

I would just try to fix it and make it a little more robust thermally, heat kills..., and then operate it within its published specifications.
