The guy who I caught stealing electricity lives halfway up a condo tower. That condo has 157 suites, if each unit had only ONE EV just how big a panel array do you think they’d need?
BTW, according to a 2014 study there were then more than 1.3 million condominium residents in Ontario. More than 10% of Ontario’s population live in the approximately 600,000 residential condominium units in Ontario.
The GTA would disappear beneath a curtain of solar arrays if only a small portion of those EV’s were charged that way, and I can’t begin to imagine how big the storage batteries would need to be in order for those solar arrays to collect enough power for an entire condo full of owners to charge their EV’s overnight because their cars are at work during the day when the sun is out.
High population density areas like New York, Miami, most of urban Europe would have similar issues.
