It seems that electric vehicles have a couple standards for charging stations but the ones that are free (like Volta) likely have a J1772 plug. It'd be great to just get 30A out of it. Anyone seen any...

Collectively the instant change is impossible. Convert 10% a year and all will adjust just fine. BTW a 20 amp circuit is needed for 16 amp max charging so there I just cut 20% off the required load.
No worse actually than coming home on that hot summer day and all 600,000 turn on their A/C at the same time. The utilities are actually eager to supply all the transportation energy.
