No worse actually than coming home on that hot summer day and all 600,000 turn on their A/C at the same time. The utilities are actually eager to supply all the transportation energy.
16 amps gives me a maximum of 13 kilometres (7.8 miles) per hour of charge, in 12 hours that would be just 150 km (94 miles). That’s a best case scenario. If I had to depend on that nightly I’d be walking to work if I had to do any additional driving during the day (I often do an extra 100 km 60 miles during the day) or went out during the evening.
A 10% per year conversion rate? So you think they’re going to upgrade the grid every year? Hmmmmmm, I suspect not.
