16 amps gives me a maximum of 13 kilometres (7.8 miles) per hour of charge, in 12 hours that would be just 150 km (94 miles). That’s a best case scenario. If I had to depend on that nightly I’d be walking to work if I had to do any additional driving during the day (I often do an extra 100 km 60 miles during the day) or went out during the evening.
A 10% per year conversion rate? So you think they’re going to upgrade the grid every year? Hmmmmmm, I suspect not.
Even if you drive 150 miles and replenish 90 you can get through a few days just fine. I did this with my LEAF the first seven months on L1 as not much charging equipment was even available at a reasonable price. I was good for 50 miles per day average and many days I did not fully charge by the time I left for work. Might be a fun exercise to set your timer to give you 90 miles per day and see how it goes for a couple weeks.
Range anxiety may have morphed into charging anxiety...
For some that might work, but it definitely wouldn’t work for me.
I often do 200 - 300 miles a day.
I have a theoretical range of 295 miles, in reality, it’s more like 250 miles.
