EZ Lube/Ultra Lube

I am familiar with many of the posts discussing the pros and cons of EZ Lube. The case for regular hand packing and inspection makes sense and is a compelling one. So I am not wanting to open that debate up here again.

But my question is for those who USE EZ Lube and do not regularly hand pack bearings. What is your ACTUAL EXPERIENCE with that approach? Has anyone here actually had grease leak back through the seals into the brakes? If so, how did that manifest itself. How did you find out. Has anyone experienced any other failures using the EZ Lube method?

Has anyone had good success with the EZ Lube method? No issues, etc. Just looking for real world results from FOLKS WHO USE EZ Lube regularly. Right or wrong I am leaning towards use of EZ Lube for annual greasing and full inspection every 3 to five years.
  • I used mine for 12 years on my old trailer and plan on using them on my new trailer. I took the wheels off and repacked the bearing about every 2 or 3 years depending on mileage.
  • My TT was built in 2005 and I have used UltraLube (different brand, same as EZ Lube) since I got it (Al-Ko 5200 lb axles). I believe the system has finally failed after 9+ years as braking has diminished. There are other explanations possible and I will not know for sure until I take it apart. There are still no signs of any bearing issues (heat build up) or obvious grease leakage. Since I have done nothing other than add grease and adjust the brakes I would say my experience is an unqualified success and the system has worked exactly as designed. Others may have a different experience.
