Yes . I see where both go to the circuit board. But as far as I can figure out the thermostat signal only tells the dome to open. The rain sensor (once it gets wet) will shut down the dome. The dome opening or closing of the dome completes an electrical flow path that directs voltage to the motor.
But the information indicates that the fan motor is protected from thermal overload. I don't know.
