Fantastic Fan Circuit Board Repair

When my Fantastic Fan dome is up, the dome motor will randomly run down for a second or two and then run back up. I disconnected the rain sensor, no joy. I assume it is the circuit board. Have any of you electronic wizards repaired those boards? I haven't pulled it out yet, a new one is around $75 and I would rather heat up the solder station and fix it.

  • Are the discrete component parts untouched? Some manufacturers love to buff off the ID numbers on transistors, and I.C.s's. Because it is a both-direction control issue I suspect an IC. You need to take a high quality image of both sides of the circuit board then reverse engineer it.

I did and they will for about $125. Attwood now owns them and they no longer do that.
