Fantastic fan problem

We have a Fantastic fan with thermostat and rain sensor. I went to turn it on the other night and the cover opens when I move the thermostat switch, but the fan doesn't turn on.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

    The plunger is stainless steel so doesn't rust,however crud builds up around the shaft and needs a shot of lubricant once a year or so to keep it moving properly.

    It is a simple make or break switch on the ground side of the circuit.

    In any case Fantastic Fan has a lifetime guarantee and they stand by it,so if you have a problem they will fix/exchange the unite with no coast.

    There is a "plunger" switch up top that turns on the fan when the lid opens. It is probably stuck in the down position, or might be loose.
