Fastec isn't selling the 44610 door handles any more

My 2011 Palomino Puma came with Fastec 44610 door handles. They are a different dimension than the normal, commonly used door handles (so it would require both cutting and filling in a gap), and one can tell them apart because the deadbolt lock is on the hinge of the handle, and not adjacent to the gap where one puts their fingers to open the door like the commonly used type.

Of course, this type of door handle is now discontinued. If/when I have handle issues, what would be the best way to replace these?

  • I always keep two spare door handles...one in the RV for repairs on the road and one at home in the safe.

There are a number of them available on eBay, perhaps buy a spare now if you're worried? I have the 44610 on my enclosed trailer; it seems pretty robust and gives me no reason to think that it would fail. But, it is also significantly smaller than many RV door latches in use (the Trimark on my MH, for example); so you could likely replace it with a larger (different brand) unit without "filling" in a gap if it did fail.

Seems Wesco offers a replacement ... worth a call. :)
