Fastline me on RV LED's

I got tired of replacing OEM bulbs in the RV so I bought the following:

LED Clicky.

Warm light 3000-3500k
220lm

Turns out they are greenish and not nearly bright enough. DW is not impressed.

I really don't want to know everything there is about LED's just want to buy ones as good as OEM 1076 bulbs and be done with it. What should I have bought instead of the ones I did?

  • I have replaced all my internal light bulbs with LEDs from eBay. There can be big differences between sellers. I recommend buying 1 or 2 and trying them before buying a lot.

13 5050 LEDs will not give you very much light. You need at least 18 to be in the range equivalent to a 1141 incandescent. 24 will be brighter, and there will be variations from vender to vender.

Color seems to be even more variable, some sellers must be color blind.

The only way to get what you want on eBay is to buy one or two to test before buying more.

Edit: just looked up the 1076 bulb, you will need at least 24 5050s to be in the same ball park.
  • What did you expect when you buy a tailite bulb for a car.

I just bought a bunch of those same bulbs, except they have another row of leds, and they are not for tailites. and they were 6 bucks each.
  • OP here.

If I need to spend $20 on one LED I will just simply buy $20 of OEM bulbs which will last this RV a lifetime. Makes no sense to me to spend that much on a LED that will be "as good" as a OEM bulb. I don't boondock so power consumption has no meaning to me and having LED's for the sake of having them is irrelevant in this application.
  • I used LEDs from Rigid Industries. These guys specialize in LEDs, and they make LED light bars for fire/rescue/offroad, marine lighting and other cool LED fixtures.

These fixture inserts (not really a "bulb") are about $20 each but are plug n play in the fixture, have a nice warm color temp, are very bright, and consume very little power. One died last year and a quick email to the company got me a new on in the mail.

Yes you can get much better prices on flea bay, but as wa8yxm says, you pays your money and you takes your chances.

You had the right idea, Some suppliers are better than others.

or 20 bucks (about) you can get ECO-LED led's at many RV stores including Camping World as I recall, these I can attest are good and bright (I get the Cool White ones) but they are also expensive.

Several E-bay suppliers ship from China.. Some are great, some good, Some crap, I've gotten good and crap. I can live with good.

I do not use the lamp you use.. but this is the "Good" one, it is a "Warm White" and as I said, I would rather have Cool White

  • Check out www.superbrightleds.com They have a plethora of lighting options. I have bought many combinations and types of LED's from them. They have a very good customer support line, are easy to work with, and will help you purchase the correct bulb for your application. If you are simply looking for the cheapest price, then stay the ebay course, if you want high quality products and customer service, try these guys. I have changed my entire interior lighting to LED's and am not dissappointed by any of them.
