IMO there is something not so funny about MPPT pricing. The MPPT is just a PWM with an add-on part. Must be a heck of a part to make the unit now cost hundreds more!! (probably costs at least 50 cents to make )
i will agree that HUNDREDS more is over priced
but i disagree with the one 50cent part
you have to route the power thru a cpu controlled switching supply, it has to go thru a transformer to be stepped up (which is the reason for the switching) then it has to voltage adjusted by sampling the current flow and battery voltage, this is 'programing' be run by the cpu
