With panel prices under $1 per watt, BFL would almost certainly be financially ahead to add another panel than join the "dark side".
I looked long and hard at redoing my system--but I could not figure out a way to run the air conditioner on solar--short of a battery cum solar panel trailer. I looked at all the options and caved in and have joined the other "dark side" of a Yamaha 3000 iSEB generator.
In both cases the economics just don't work.
