Obviously, you can try to get it sort of right within reason. I am trying to point out that there is no point in trying to fine tune the thing (by going to MPPT, eg) when it is all so variable.
You can get there with PWM. Since you did get there, what extra good would MPPT do you? Or: you didn't get there that day. Not likely MPPT would have "saved the day" Feast or famine kind of business, run by the weatherman.
