- 77rollalongExplorerwe picked up a roll of 12v LED lights and cut them to length to replace ours, no need to use the ballast at all, got ours off aliexpress for aloud a $1 a meter (yard for US users) and can cut them to length to fit your fixtures..
- Grey_MountainExplorerReplaced with two LED tubes. Tubes in the other fixture are still good but will replace them as well. These lights are overhead in the front of our Discovery. We seldom use them as we have more than enough lights on the walls and under the cabinets to light up half the universe.
GM - wa8yxmExplorer IIIYou can get the corect lamp at Wal-Mart and most big box Home improvement store
The "D" means "Daylight" C and W will also work.
I too went the LED route. More light. less current. NO RFI from the Inverter/ballast. - Grey_MountainExplorerThanks for the responses.
GM - Bill_SatelliteExplorer III replaced a 2 light Floro with a 2 strip LED unit from Camping World (not the LED tube replacement, but 2 strips). It was way too bright! I used just one and replaced another 2 light fixture in the closet with the other strip! Good deal!
- Chris_BryantExplorer IIAny F15T8 will do, it’s not a 12 volt bulb.
- MrWizardModeratorAny tube the right size will work
You won't find much difference in price in that size
I bought my replacements at home depot
I always bought the same daylight spectrum tube
Until I replaced all of them with LED strip lighting - D_E_BishopExplorerThe number 15 in the sequence F15T8/D stands for 15 watts, so what you should use is another 15 watt tube.
Basically the numbers stand for a 18 inch, 15 watt, daylight tube to be used in a 12vdc fixture.
So the short answer is no you don't need the exact numbers on the replacement tube. It must be 18" and 15 Watt and for 12 vdc fixture but there are different colors of light. Figure out what you like best.
I too would convert all my tube fixtures to dimmable LED strips like these. LED Strips
If you can solder they are easy to install. I cut mine to length and soldered them in a two light level arrangement and glued them to the fixture with contact cement.. I believe that the ones listed are dimmable and I'd buy a dimmer and just solder all the strips you need in series.
You probably have a wall switch for the lights and there are switches available or you can buy one with a remote and dimmer on line also from ebay. - LwiddisExplorer IIWith an LED replacement you’ll likely never replace again.
