30amps is a lot to expect from a cigarette lighter socket
who said i planned to run it at full load?
Valid point.
My laptop has a 240 watt charger, too much to run through a cigarette lighter. I always assume worst case usage when hooking something up. - LittleBillExplorer

You will need to do an adapter of some kind. The Victron comes with #8 wire (or maybe #6) which goes inside the case.
I'm going to try running it on cigarette lighter, too, but will limit my demand to a laptop and heating pad.
I'm concerned about the inrush current.LittleBill wrote:

1100 watts is really all you should need..
$77 bucks and 3 year warranty...

what is that 1000 watt one for the same price that pops up below this one?

The red BESTek unit? I would pass on that unit. I doubt it could really supply 1000 watts continuously. No UL, no FCC, no mention of pure sine wave ... and only 5 lbs? Even if they're using newer high frequency designs, the transformers should still be heavier than that.
For modified sine, I like the advertisement for the orange Ampeak unit that shows up looking at the BESTek ... ETL tested, they're not the UL but better than nothing. Nice sturdy input terminals, volt meter built in, support for a remote, and best of all the advertisement is up front about it being a modified sine unit. On the flipside, only 3.4 pounds??? Sheesh - BumpyroadExplorer
