I have the Magnatek 950 and it is 18 years old. The manual says that when they fail they will either go to 6 v or 0 v. It sounds to me like there is a battery problem rather than a converter failing. I found that a cheaper alternative is a portable 40 amp Vector smart charger that I use when dry camping. I find that the "smart charger" does not fully charge and several days floating with the 950 after the "smart charger" says full will give me a more fully charged battery and 2 more days before recharging.
