My PM3-100 has an external fan that is DC powered and blows through the unit from the AC input end out through the DC output end. It comes on and turns off during charging as it feels the need.
There was a series of PMs earlier than the PM3 though. Don't know how they operated.
BTW, any new info on the variable voltage PMs coming out?
