Fresh Water Tank Question

I will be installing my new water tank in the trailer this weekend and re-configuring all the plumbing with PEX. I plan to install the fresh water holding tank under the bench seat. Question: Should I place a vapor barrier between my tank and wood floor? Will it "sweat" when it's filled? The water I put in the tank is ice cold from the hose and the inside of the trailer is hot. Will that create condensation or are these kind of tanks made not to sweat? I don't want a mold problem. Thank you.

  • Better safe than sorry. I placed mine on a new vinyl floor with no seams. I haven't had any issues.
  • If its sitting on bare wood I would install a vapor barrier of some sort. The scenario you describe is certainly going to cause tank sweating. Might be overkill, but better to do it and not need it than...well, you know.
  • My FW tanks have all been inside on top of the carpet. I thought all were.
  • I can't see where it would hurt. Is it a bare wood floor, or does it have a floor covering on it?
I've heard the Rockwood Roo's have internal water tanks, maybe someone who owns one can chime in.
