Fresh water tank

My water tank is slowly filling up with water. I need to know what to look at repairing in order to stop the water from filling this holding tank. I have a bad water pump which I stopped using because it would leak when using it off the grid. I have used the water bypass valve to fill the water tank in the past so both are suspect. Do any of you have any experience with this problem or can someone give me some helpful advice?

  • I had the same thing happen when I hooked up to a high pressure water system with out a regulator.
I now use a regulator when hooking up to water of unknown pressure and remove it if the pressure is not adequate.
  • It's the back check valve at the water pump leaking. Might be internal or external at the pump.
  • Thanks for the reply, I was hoping it would be the water pump.
  • You said it yourself. Bad water pump! The pump has a check valve to prevent city water from filling your tank. Either fix or block off the tank to pump line. No more problem.
