Mine's the same way—the switch for the fridge doesn't disable the light. I don't know why they wire it that way, but they did, and that's the way things are. Many details of RV electrical system design can be rather mysterious.
I got around the problem of having the light on during storage by also having a broken door switch for the light so it never turns on. More generally applicable solutions include the tape on the switch, removing the bulb, pulling the fuse, or adding a second switch to the power line on the inside of the fridge (which, at least on mine, would be quite straightforward).
