Maybe it is a Dometic versus Norcold engineering decision. I know that when I switch the fridge off at the eyebrow panel on my Dometic fridge, the light goes out and stays out.
I wonder about replacing the bulb with one that is a LED, and calling it done. It will glow, but at least it will use 1/7 of the energy that the bulb it replaced did.
