Fridge interior light while in storage

I like to leave my fridge and freezer door cracked open while in storage. I'm also connected to shore power while in storage and do not cut power to the trailer. It sits on the side of my house so we are in/out of it all the time and need to be able to turn the lights on. The issue I have is with the light inside my Dometic fridge. Has anyone come up with a simple solution to turn it off while in storage. I was pulling the bulb out but have already lost one as a result and would like to find a better solution if anyone has come up with one?

  • I pull the light cover and bulb and place both on the counter right next to the fridge. Never thought of tape on the switch, but pulling it has not been a problem for 12 years now... ;)

Me Too. Plugged in, propped open, no light.
  • Maybe tape down the door switch for the light ?
Or, get fancy and put a small on/off in line switch on the wire that goes to the light
  • Leave the pulled bulb inside the refer. Pull the 12v refer fuse.
  • Not a dometic fridge in our rig, but we just put a piece of scotch tape over the switch so it doesn't turn on when it is not in use.
