I would remove these covers from vent......they are used to restrict air from blowing flame out while traveling. They may be part of issue. Keep them to reinstall IF needed.
I would close up the open 'gap' where ignitor wire goes into burner area.
That 'gap' looks like it would funnel air flow directly in and 'push' flame over to backside which would then trip thermal-fuse
