Fridge Noise

The last two days in the heat of the day (temp around 80) the fridge has started making a sound like a fan running. It is a gas absorption fridge so I know there is no moving parts. I pulled the outside panel to confirm that the noise was coming from there. After an hour or so it stops.
We have been in even higher temperature before and it did not make any noise.
The fridge seems to be holding its temperature.

Any ideas??

Thanks

  • Hi,

Lots of us add fans to improve air flow. Mine have a mask that help restrict air flow in the winter to reduce the chance of the Fridge freezing up in extreme cold. I'll be adding the ARP this spring to further protect the fridge.
  • Our Dometic 4door has one or more cooling fans that run almost constantly in hot weather.
  • Problem solved.

I checked the wiring diagram and there is a fan. It must be up higher where I can't see it. But I sure can hear it.

    Thanks for your help.
  • I had what I thought was the same problem... I kept hearing a fan cycling on off near the refrigerator... It was the fan on the power center which is right next to the refrigerator and it was cycling on/off at an unusually frequent rate.. The problem was that the emergency brake switch wire had been pulled when leveling the trailer and the brakes were constantly on demanding power from the batteries.. One this was found and corrected, the frequent fan noise went away..
  • If your refrigerator is in a slide out, it most likely has a fan which will cycle on during warmer parts of the day.
  • Are you sure you don't have a fridge exhaust fan back there? My only thought
