Fridge Not Cold On Gas

I've been dry camping for 3 days. When I left home the fridge was good and cold after being plugged in for a day. Its an older dometic unit and I noticed after about a day the fridge was not cold, and the freezer was sweating. I had cleaned the burner and chimney before I left, because I was having problems with the flame going out. This time it never went into fault, the green propane light stayed lit all along and I checked the flame just to be sure, it was lit and the chimney was hot. I just got into a cg tonite plugged in and the freezer iced right up and the fridge is getting cold. I will say tho, even tho the fridge was too warm too keep food in, the freezer held about 40 degrees. Any ideas whats going on here?

  • Here is my post in other thread you started on your fridge.
Try removing the burner orifice and soak it in Alcohol for a hour. Get a fresh high % bottle from Walmart. Then blow it out. Reinstall it. You should hear what I call a roar from the burner. Not as loud as a water heater. But should be able to hear it with your ear near vent.
  • If it works fine on electric but not on gas the problem is with the flame period. Either it is too small/not high enough into the chimney, etc. If the burner slots are all clean, then low gas pressure may be the cause as posted.
    Stove burners work ok?

YUP! I had that problem too. After I cleaned the burner again, cleaned the jet, cleaned the flue, replaced the burner and jet I found the pressure at the test port on the burner was 8" WC. Adjusting the old Marshall Brass regulator up to 10 1/2" WC inproved the cooling drastically. Ideal is 11" WC so I replaced the regulator. End of problem.

Re-read the suggestions in your post from yesterday

Fridge works on electric so cooling unit is OK

Problem is with propane system. So go back thru propane system as suggested.
  • Ok so here's the deal. I was in another cg last nite. Apparently the cg wifi could not handle the traffic. I tried to post this thread last nite, but after 2 hours it still hadn't posted, so I assumed it never made it on the forum, but after searching my posts I found it. I hope I'm not annoying too many other people on here, and I appreciate all the help you folks have given me over the years.

Lat it could be caused by oil in the regulator. Depends on where the propane was from and if there was an issue...
  • Sorry if I'm annoying u robsouth. I last posted that the flame was going out and I was advised to clean the burner area, which I did. NOW the flame stays lit but does not get cold, I was hoping that someone with experience in this area could help me. YOU, obviously don't have any experience in this area, so it's ok to read and move on, you don't HAVE to post a comment on everything you read!!! GEEZ!!!
  • dano73, you have been posting about this problem for quite a while now. Why not take it to a repair facility and get it repaired?
