Fridge Quit

My TT has a Dometic DM2652LBX refrigerator and it suddenly stopped working after working fine all summer. Had it repaired once a few years ago because heating element burned out. That was a warranty repair. This time it just stopped cooling. Panel lights were on and heater was hot to the touch. Switched it over to gas and burner lit like it is supposed to but still no cooling at all. Left it on for a while longer to see if anything would happen. Nothing. So I turned it off at the power button that was still lit up. Few hours later I thought I would try one more time. This time it was totally dead. No panel lights would come on at all where they did before. What could be going on?
  • The cooling unit is dead. If you had heat from either AC or gas and it didn't cool then the magic has escaped due to a leak. Ours died over a number of days and there was very little ordor just some yellow powder.
  • Yes the smell will curl your nose alright.

As mentioned, I would suspect the control board.
I had similar issues with one of mine a few years back and once I put a new board in, it was working perfect again.
I suggest looking at the Dinosaur brand boards. They make really good ones.
It's an easy change. Most people can do it themselves with minimal tools.

Not true. If you have a small leak over time, you will not smell the Ammonia. There is a HEAT sensor on the Burner flue cover. IF that trips(due to a bad/leaking) cooling unit, it opens and you have no power to the refer. In other words, it did its job. Doug

Do you smell ammonia behind the refer, to you see and yellow residue on any of the cooling tubes?
