Fridge troubleshooting

So, my motorhome is out on rental right now and the renter is having issues with the fridge. It's an auto igniting unit. Basically, he's saying that it works fine on setting #1. But if he turns it up to #2 or higher, the fridge shuts down and lights blink. I was always under the impression that the gas flow on these is the same no matter what temp setting you have it at. It's just a matter of run time (cycle time), that determines how cold the fridge stays. #1 having the shortest run time and #5 the longest. With that said, why is it turning off on him?

I've gone through all the basics with him:

-blow out the access panel
-moho sitting level
-voltage is good
-and yes, the propane valve is on

  • I my not have this right but I had a similar problem. The fridge runs on gas and you look at controls after 1-2 days and it shows red "x" check gas. You restart and hear the igniter try to light the burner, then fail. Turn gas to lowest setting and press igniter. It fails. Run all gas burners on stove. Lite fridge. Success on lowest setting. After a few minutes, slowly move setting to higher level. No further problems until some random date later. No solution found and battery, soot, lp level, all none issues.
  • Could it be low voltage to the control panel. Have the batteries been checked. Running frig on gas, does that mean no electric at their site? Have they run the genny to charge the batteries? Control panel on frig needs battery power to operate correctly.
  • So why is he turning it up does he want it colder?? I could be wrong but to make it colder on mine I just move a clip on one of the inside fins..

    Out of propane?

Half tank. Stove, oven, water heater all work fine.

I believe it could be operator error. There are very few here that would rent there MH, Good luck.

Um, okay. I'm pretty sure as long as you have an index finger and an opposable digit, you can "operate" a fridge.
