Thanks, BFL. I talked to the mfg and was told there had been a catastrophic failure in the inverter. So I will just replace it. Fuse is good. It will power up but now only produces about 5-9v then shuts down. Wait a few min and it will power up again. it is toast and for the price I am going to replace it. Not expensive enough to mess with it any longer. I have other things to do.

Some inverters have an internal fuse you can change if you can get at it. Of course that might just blow again.

I guess it was the inv. Today It was not producing 110v so I probed it with multimeter, 5.9v then an arc. It's done. I sent the inverterstore a msg it is out of warranty but my other one is over 5 yrs old without issue. Maybe they will have some sympathy and help me out.

Someone poste that I should wire the conv to the Batt. If the voltage @ the batt terminals reads 14.8 would that not be the voltage going to the conv? I guess what I need to do is find a device to limit the voltage going to the inv to 12v. Anyone have an idea?

They work fine until I see 14.8 then they are gone so you may be correct I will have to look for something else Any ideas? Thanks for the advise everyone.

The power supply for the speakers is 120v input & 7.5v ac output.

this might be the problem, the type of power supply
you have a double conversion going on
120v to 7.5vac
then 7.5vac to DC inside the speakers
when the speakers and TV are off..you still have voltage and conversion in the first power supply

IF it were me
my next set of speakers would be, the type where the 120v goes directly to one of the speakers, the DC conversion has less steps involved

i have a set of speakers just like that, i occasionally use with my laptop
they might last longer in your stituation

and yes i run all my entertainment from an inverter

i don't think the problem is your inverter
i think its the design of the speaker system

as stated my inv is an AIMS psw not msw. 300w. The conv is a new Powermax boondocker 4 stage 55a that always powers up @ 14.8 then drifts down. The power supply for the speakers is 120v input & 7.5v ac output.

Q) It is possible that your modified sine wave inverter (If that is what you have) it doing the damage.

Could you post the model of your converter/charger unit. Your 2004 model trailer probably only is using a single mode voltage converter/charger unless you have added a smart mode converter/charger.

I have used different small wattage size INVERTERs here in my off-road setup an finally have settled down to a 600WATT AIMS PURE SINE WAVE type inverter for all my electronics including 120VAC speaker amps for the computer here... The only thing I ever put on a MSW TYPE INVERTER is outside lights. My PSW INVERTERS were always hard wired installed as close to the battery switch as I can get. Never had much luck plugging them in 12VDC cigarette lighter type connectors inside my trailer. Internal trailer 12VDC wiring is too small to handle the inverters. Even a small 300WATT INVERTER will draw around 24 AMPS DC Current at 12.3VDC input (FULL LOAD).

I have a nice cool spot in a cabinet within five feet from my battery switches where I mount my PSW INVERTER. This area has good spot for INVERTER chassis frame ground and has a positive air flow for cooling.

Like everyone else here just poking around with comments... Maybe a light will come on and help out...
