Frig not cold

Just pulled the trailer out of storage and was getting it ready for an outing next weekend. Hooked up the 120v and discovered that the refrigerator wasn't getting cold after several hours. The strange thing is the freezer is working fine. I switched it to propane and although I could here the ignitor trying to fire it up, it failed to light off. I switched back to 120v again and the same. It's a 10 year old Dometic. Any ideas?

  • I've owned it for about 4 years and in the past,it would start getting cold within an hour or so. It's fine now but took a long time. Maybe sitting in storage for 8 months had something to do with it.

Is this unusual for your refer? You don't indicate this is your first outing.
  • if you wanna help the cooling time put a frozen jug in the frig, it,ll cut time in half.
  • You guys were absolutely right. I checked it tonight and it's now getting cold. I also determined that the propane wouldn't fire up because the the lines didn't have any propane in them from sitting all winter. I turned on the gas stove and after the propane finally reached the stove, it lit. After that, the refrig lit up fine on propane.
Thanks for the advice...I had visions of a huge repair bill.
  • Freezer evap cooler sucks all the cool out first so not much cooling affect is left for food section evap cooler until freezer gets cold

Can take 8 hrs or more on initial startup
  • If the freezer is getting cold it should start cooling the refrig. They are not separate units. Give it more time...at least 8 hours.
