From the article;
"The Omniprocessor...Through the ingenious use of a steam engine, it produces more than enough energy to burn the next batch of waste. In other words, it powers itself, with electricity to spare."
That is fantastic, they finally invented a perpetual motion machine! Where do I get one?
The article also states;
"The next-generation processor, more advanced than the one I saw, will handle waste from 100,000 people, producing up to 86,000 liters of potable water a day and a net 250 kw of electricity."
So not only perpetual motion, it will actually produce excess energy? Just think, we can use that excess energy to power our electric motor RV!
Note that the article says it produces potable water, it doesn't filter it, it produces it!
Glory day! Glory day! :B
It's really not a "perpetual" motion machine. It still takes "fuel" to make it work. That fuel is poop!
Edit: Funny concept here brings back a memory:
I was in the Army, Korea, 1984-1985. Not during any open conflict, thank goodness. Anyway, "Team Spirit" exercises ... when everyone goes out into the field with tents and all gear and live like savages for a couple weeks!
Well... in our camp, they had a "latrine" area set up. It was an enclosed short walled area with wire. Inside was a small portable "outhouse" with a roof and short walls about 4 feet high. Inside the 4 walls was a half cut barrel. On top of the barrel was a toilet seat. We did our business there.
Every morning, someone had to pull "latrine" duty. "Latrine" duty consisted of pouring diesel fuel in the barrel and igniting with a match and burning the 'stuff' up until it was nothing but ash. Then the ash was simply poured on the ground in a "cat hole" and buried a few inches deep.
Did I say this was in December and January? Temperatures in Korea during that time of year are about the same as Indiana... freezing, and snow! So you know what? Folks actually volunteered for "Latrine duty". Why? Because they could hover over the fire and keep warm! Really! I'm not kidding!
So you know ... we really do have a valuable resource ... next time you go camping ... um .... instead of going to the shower house.... um .... well .... right there is the fire ring! :B
