I'm testing my trailer today. Thought it could use a systems check and a water leak check. Everything seems to be in order.
I was surprised to find out that my furnace runs off DC and propane. I thought I needed AC and propane. Now I'm wondering if it runs off AC and propane at all or does it only run off DC and propane.
I guess I'll have to experiment. It's confusing because my AC only runs off AC, but my furnace runs off DC and propane. I hope the furnace runs off AC and propane, too.

Water heater, water pump, lights, furnace etc do not care if you are plugged into 110V just as long as that 12V DC is available! The fridge needs 12V DC for the controls but most WILL switch to AC from propane when 110V is available.
It is the addition of more luxury items like A/C and Microwaves that need 110V AC to run, otherwise, with a good battery, you can operate all systems in the trailer.
As others have said, the converter runs on AC to keep the battery charged and to operate those 12V systems when you are connected to shore power.
