Fuse size pre-inverter

I've looked around and I've deduced that a slower-blow fuse, a Type T, is recommended between the battery bank and the inverter. I have two, group 27 batteries and I'm aimin' to install a 1000 watt inverter with an automatic transfer switch to power a 15 amp circuit in the coach. I'll be ordering a KISAE Model SW1210, which appear to be relativly new. I don't see alot of reviews for them, but the price makes the gamble attractive, of course. I'll be running a laptop or two, a 24" LED TV and maybe a Play Station. I'm thinkin' 1000 watts is overkill, but I'd rather have too much than too little. I considered a 600 watt, but for the price of the 1000 (200 skins), what the heck?
Recommendations for the fuse as well as any other thoughts/opinions are welcome.

I have installed several INVERTERs over the years. Since everything needs to connect into the battery terminals I always use the BLUE SEA type 505 ANL FUSE BLOCK w/cover.

All connections are made with 4AWG cables with ring terminal connections.

    Thanks. Good idea.
    From the on-line manual:
    "Fuse or Circuit Breaker:
DC-rated fuse or DC-rated circuit breaker connected along the DC positive line is required.
For MW 1210, SW 1210, select a fuse or circuit breaker with a [COLOR=]minimum of 150 Adc.
Based on the size of the battery bank...determine the
overall short circuit current rating of the battery bank from the battery manufacturer. The fuse or circuit breaker chosen has to be able to withstand the short circuit current that may be
    generated by the battery bank."
I have no idea about "short circuit current". I see some set-ups with 150 amp fuses and some with 200. I guess the 150 would error on the side of caution.
Would a faster-trip ANL fuse be better?
  • OP: manual you posted says 150 amp.
How far are you running the 12 volt wiring? Need t install large enough wire.
