Generac Gen. Carb Question

I have a Generac model 00916-1 in the motor home. The question is what are the wires attached to on the bottom of the float bowl? What ever it is it gets to hot to touch and that can't be good.

  • Thanks to everybody, for the help. When the MH gets back, I'll see what I can do.

That make sense. Can the gen run with it unhooked?

No it pulls in to let the carb have the gas it needs. Unhook it and it will shut the gas off. If it is getting hot. You probably have a bad coil in it.
  • You need the model number to look up correct manuals to he people out.
On onan gens that is a fuel cutoff solenoid there is a pin inside when 12 v is applied it pulls back to let fuel go in . If your gen is the same one wire is just connected to ground on the block and the other wire is the hot follow both wires back to see if there shorting out.
You can take the pin out and unplug the hot wire and see if it will run since its not a gravity feed I don't know why they started putting those fuel cutoffs on them I guess to make more money.
  • Do you mean that the wires are attached to the round device that holds the float bowl on? If so its probably for the anti diesel solenoid. Its powered when in the run position and unpowered during shut down. When in shut down a spring inside the solenoid pushes a tapered pin into the main jet so the engine doesn't diesel on. When activated you may hear or feel a slight click but I have never seen one get real hot. It may be shorted.
  • It's what my daughter wrote down. Does the model make a difference? She is out of town so I can't check it myself. Maybe GN-410?
