Generac generator

Have an iX2000 generac gen that will not start. Have had dealer replace the on switch 2 times and worked a few times then quits again. No spark at plug. Any idea how to bypass the switch? Have had a honda engine on power washer for 10 yrs and the on off switch has never failed. Generac using defective materials?

  • Idaho and Calif, sure wish you guys lived closer. I am at a loss. E mailed Generac and will see their response. Had a Honda gen that was lost in Sandy in about 3 ft of salt water. Never missed a beat.
  • In My Most And Extreme Humblest Of Opinion...

Definition of Defective = Generac, a contraction of GENeral CRap

Check and see if you can get adapters to use the same Low Oil Pressure safety switch that certain models of Honda use. Both should utilize metric threads.
  • Hi All.

Also, make sure that your "Generac Generator" has a good clean and tight ground wires. That also can stop it from firing at all. We also have a "5.5G Generac Generator", in our Motorhome.

Ours has never given us any trouble what so ever. I have done all of my own work on every RV we have ever owned in the past 46+ years, we don't even know what a RV Shop is or what a so called RV Tech is also. I'm am a real nut case when it comes to "Proventive Maintenace Programs".

Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
  • Generac equipment seems to have a problem with the low oil press shutoff switch, my power washer was doing the same thing until I bypassed the low oil shut down. I also thought it was the on/off switch at first.
