This is starting to not look good. There is an auto reset 2.5A CB close to the voltage regulator. It is attached to a "DPE" winding in the generator portion. It is the exact area where I am hearing the light clicking noise when I have the starter cable disconnected from the starter contactor. I am going to have to disconnect it and see if there is a short in the coil, and if it makes a difference in the clicking noise.
I also found a heat damaged connector on a heavy duty 1 ohm, 5%, 25 watt resistor. It is marked OHMITE 470-25K-40 1R000J. And a ground wire was not connected near the carb solenoid.
I need kid sized hands, and if both worked, that would help immensely.
