When a larger battery bank gets down, it takes either a lot of panel to push it around or days to recharge it. I ran a test with a 250ah 8-D discharged to 12.1v resting and a 220w system. After 5 hours in brilliant sunshine and subfreezing temperatures I think it made the battery giggle. The battery needed 125 ah replaced and the system could do a tenth of that, it would take days.
I can believe that flat 220W panel would harvest - probably not "one tenth" of 125 AH - but somewhere around 40 AH in winter, so it would take 3 days without any loads.
Can't completely agree with the first sentence though. What Don said - larger bank suffers less from the same AH discharge. AH number is still the same, and charging may go slower yet because acceptance rate gets lower when it's closer to 100%, but it's less critical, because your SOC before charging was not too low.
