My experience is that when I use DirecTV, radio, lights at night for a few hours and forced air heater in the morning before brewing a pot of coffee I need more than one battery worth of stored solar power, and three new 12v's don't cut it.
You are not being hammered. Different people, rigs, gear and methods have different results. That doesn't invalidate your results any more than yours does mine. I think that seeing a good range of results gives a better understanding than one persons saying this is what works for me, do it.
