Yes, you have a point...if I don't need to spend nearly $1000, I would prefer not to at this point. The field does have a 12v bank avaialble...provides 20A but I was told I can bridge 2 charging zones to get 40A. Would 12V at 20-40A be adequate?
If I "have" to purchase a generator, I might use it camping (we only go once a year)...so really, it wouldn't get much other use.

Champion makes a decent generator, 3000 watts I believe.  My dad has one and it's fairly quiet.  If you go camping, is it in an rv or tent?  If you want a generator for your rv, it's going to take a decent size for the a/c.  So, if you buy a generator, it may force you to go more than once a year.:)  Or, don't fly as long.  Or, fly gas planes like me.
