I guess for full-time drycampers or near-full-time drycampers ... cost of generator power versus solar system power is an important consideration.
For our RV usage style we need, and therefore want, it to have the capability for full 30 amp electric operation anywhere, anytime - regardless of hookups or not. In our case, that takes a generator on board in addition to propane systems. Some RVs can of course operate fully from a their properly sized on board battery and generator systems with or without solar.
I guess is boils down to how much complete self-containment one "needs" or "wants".
