Generator for a trailer
Can a generator be permanently mounted on a small shelf attached to the back of a 33' trailer, or would it upset the trailer/tow vehicle balance?

You would be removing some weight from the tongue, how much is unknown without some measurements and weights. The weight removed from the tongue can be as much as the weight of the generator and shelf it sits on. All this weight will go on the axles, depending on how close you are to your capacity on the axles, you can overload them.
