Westend and shum, thanks for the productive posts. I really appreciate it. Too bad I have to justify my question here, but here goes. I am looking for an alternative method of fueling my generator for 4 reasons: 1) My F150 is very close to GVWR and carrying 10+ gallons of extra gas adds weight that I was hoping to avoid. 2) I dry camp a significant distance from town and it isn't always in our plans to make a trip to town for gas every day. 3) My 5.5 ft. pickup bed is pretty full with all the stuff that we take for two small children. That brings me to 4). Two children - 3 and 1. Safety is extremely important and carrying 10+ gallons of gas in the bed of the pickup doesn't seem to be very safe if we happen to be in an accident.
I am not a mechanic so Shum's post doesn't make complete sense to me, but I will take it to a mechanic friend and let him help me decide if that is an option. THANKS!
