My F150 is very close to GVWR and carrying 10+ gallons of extra gas adds weight that I was hoping to avoid.
All of us RV'ers are guilty of bringing way too much on camping trips.
Take a look at all your family is dragging with on your camping trips. And the extra food stuffs you take with. Cans of food weigh a lot and usually are only brought with for that 'in case of'.
First of all you are going to be very amazed at all they are bringing with and what it all weighs.
If you are worried about CCC. Ask you wife what they can offer up to help the CCC weight. Bring the stuff they can live without out of the RV and weigh it and THAT amount of stuff stays home to accommodate your gas can. :W
one gallon = approx 8 lbs 10 x 8 = 80 lbs.
Safety is extremely important and carrying 10+ gallons of gas in the bed of the pickup doesn't seem to be very safe if we happen to be in an accident.
If you stop and think about it....you already have a 30 gal+ gas tank bomb on the back of your truck!! If you got in an accident THAT is what is going to be the unsafe issue factor not a single 10 gallon gas tank in the bed of the truck. :W
Buy your gas for the gen, store it in an approved gas can, secure it safely in the bed of the truck and go out there and have a good time camping!!:C
